Two Performance Characteristics of Powder Metallurgy Injection Molding Process


In process of metal injection molding, the mixture is heated to a rheological plastic material in injection machine barrel and then injected into the mold at appropriate pressure, forming a blank. Injection molded blank should be uniform on microcosmic , so that product has uniform shrinkage during sintering.

    
1, powder metal injection molding low loss. Raw material powder can be made into finished goods directly or near final shape and size products, thus no or only minimal machining; short process, less investment in equipment. It is suitable for mass production of various less moderate load mechanical parts.


2, powder metal injection molding can produce special performance material and high performance material which is unable or hard to made by casting method. For example,  a porous material consciously control and use the porous properties of powder metallurgy products; false alloy, metal and non-metallic composites, metal and refractory inter-metallic composite, powder and fiber composite materials are using flexible batching process (porous material, anti-friction materials, friction materials, electrical materials, magnetic materials, dispersive strengthened alloys, refractory metals, cemented carbide, cermet); steel and high temperature alloys take use of powder without macro-segregation and fine and homogeneous of  grain and the second phase.
