Russian Kalashnikov will use MIM technology for firearm components manufacture


According to Russian sources, the arms manufacturer Kalashnikov plan to turn to MIM process for manufacturing gun components. This forms a part of company's modernization program.   

As the EU and US sanctions, after lost its traditional public goods market, the company said it would turn to Asia, Africa and Latin America markets.

Using mixture as a raw material composed of fine metal powder and polymeric binder,  Kalashnikov firearms parts do not need further process. In year 2014-2015, there were more than 40 new parts being launched, of which 15 have pass tests.
   


Kalashnikov CEO Alexey Krivoruchko said: "One of our strategic objectives is through a series aimed at increasing productivity and efficiency systematic work to improve our product competitiveness in global market." Kalashnikov estimated revenue in 2014 was over 90 billion rubles, but in 2013 was slightly more than 2 billion rubles.
