Characteristics and Application of Tin Plating for Metal Injection Molding

MIM parts - afterprocessing technology


MIM parts are complex in shape and high density after sintering, which bring many difficulties to afterprocessing.

MIM Technology – Debinding Process


In order to facilitate forming, MIM technology has added a large number of binder (15~20%) in its raw materials. These binders must be removed completely before sintering process. Different feedstock system requires  different ways of degreasing. As majority of enterprises are not familiar with the use of feedstock, they can not use debinding technology correctly and reasonably. (1) screw drill hole diameter and depth (bottom hole size according to the thread specification to determine the size); external threads to process to the thread size outside the circle (size is determined according to the specification of thread)

(2) Produce thread: internal thread use the corresponding grade; external thread by thread cutter or die threading.

(3) Defect phenomena including wire arbitrary deduction, not uniform size, thread gauge inspection unqualified materials etc. According to the requirements of the user to select copper, aluminum, low carbon steel etc which has lower deformation resistance, and good the plasticity good ductility of metal or non-metal.

(1)   Choose nearest obstacle
(2)   Gate size and location should avoid  injection and peristalsis.
(3)   Gate should be located in the thickest part of injection part section
(4)    Gate location should make flow process shorter and less change of flow direction

(6)   Gate location should reduce or avoid weld mark so as to increase weld fastness.
