Origin of powder metallurgy development in the metal industry


Three thousand years ago, our ancestors had used powder metallurgy method in the manufacture of iron. Then in modern society, powder metallurgy process be improved gradually. How do they develop? We can see from the following three perspectives.

First, the development of modern powder metallurgy technology effectively prevented from  problems in refractory metal casting process. For example, tungsten lamp appears resulting in a very good role in development of powder metallurgy in the last century. Then, there has been cemented carbide powder metallurgy, which known as a machining revolution at that time by lot of people in the industry,.

Secondly, in the 30s porous oil-bearing has been successfully taken out and then promote the development of iron-based parts, powder metallurgy cutting advantage of small or even no play dripping wet is delicate.

With subsequent emergence and development of new materials and new technology, powder metallurgy has been pushed to another climax. At about 40s, metal ceramic and  dispersion strengthening materials appeared. When in the 60s and 70s, the powder high speed steel and super alloy also came into being accordingly. For many high-strength parts, powder metallurgy, forging and HIP technology can achieved.
