MIM powder metallurgy process applications


MIM process used in the metal powder particle size is generally 0.5 ~ 20μm; Theoretically, the finer the particles, the greater the specific surface area, ease of molding and sintering. The traditional powder metallurgy process is used more than 40μm of coarse powder.

Role of organic binder is an adhesive metal powder particles, so that the mixture is heated in a cylinder having a jet rheology and lubricity, i.e. drive carrier powder flow. Thus, the adhesive is selected carrier throughout the powder. Therefore, selection is the key to pull sticky powder injection molding. The organic adhesive requirements:

1. Use less, use less adhesive makes mixture produce better rheological;

2. does not react, in the course of removal of the adhesive with the metal powder can not afford any chemical reaction;


3. easy to remove, no residual carbon in the products. Mixing metal powder metallurgy and organic binder uniformly blended together, so that a variety of raw materials become injection molding mixes. Mixture uniformity directly affects their mobility, thus affecting the injection molding process parameters, as well as the density and other properties of the final material. This step injection molding process and plastic injection molding process in principle is the same, which is basically the same device condition.
