The MIM Process of Three Steps


MIM process(http://www.zcmim.com/helps/mimprocess.html) requires three steps:
(1) In condition of heating, pressure, injection the mixture of powdered metal and thermoplastics (or other binder) into mold cavity (similar to thermoplastic injection molding).
(2) Removing binder by heating or melting, only the metal powder left.
(3) Sintering the metal powder. Sintering temperature should be lower than the melting point of metal, but enough to make metal powder combined into solid metal (actual solid metal density is more than 96%).

Metal Injection Molding Process Applied in Sewing Machine Parts


Metal injection molding(http://www.zcmim.com/faq.shtml) technology was first introduced by national 863 plan, to produce high density, high precision, high strength, complicated 3D shape parts. It has the advantages of low cost, high efficiency, good consistency and good abrasion resistance, strong ability to resist high temperature, and easy to mass production. With the production of sewing machine industry as example, traditional production method is generally take cold extrusion process. Though its cost for blank is lower, it requires more than 200 times procedures, high artificial cost and low efficiency. Shuttle blank with metal injection only needs lathing once on each side, as much as 10 procedures can complete finish goods, saving more than 100 procedures than traditional process, greatly shorten the production cycle and save a large amount of labor.
